Have y’all gone to Torchy’s Tacos?? If not, I HIGHLY recommend trying it out!! I am here in Houston and hadn’t heard of them until we moved here, so it may be aSouthern chain, but nonetheless….pack your bags and travel on down here to try it!! So many amazing taco varieties, but most of all….their queso is amazing!! Best queso ever…..by far….and I know my queso!!
A few weeks ago, I introduced my hubby to Torchy’s and since then, he has gone a few times with coworkers. He too, immediately got hooked…especially with their queso.
How to Make a Copycat Torchy’s Queso Recipe
Now, I know my version is a shortcut since it uses Velveeta, but when those queso cravings hit, you’ll be glad for shortcuts you can make at home, right?!?!
This version is pretty darn close to the original and great to whip up as an appetizer or side dish to accompany any meal!!
Hope you enjoy!!

This isn’t even close to Torchy’s. This recipe is the you made a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy and it sort of kinds looks like the original if you squint real hard and stand on your head. Velveeta isn’t even a remote possibility in any true queso. First, Torchy’s is TexMex. Which is it’s own major food group. For cheese in an authentic queso you use queso blanco, queso fresco or in a pinch Boar’s Head White American (because it wont clump). Torchy’s queso also contains Salsa Verge and a small scoop of guacamole. Roma tomatoes, Serrano and Anaheim peppers and multiple cloves or garlic.Reply

Yikes! Thanks for the….constructive….feedback! If you take a look at my blog, you’ll find a tasty White Queso using the cheeses you mentioned. This copycat is simply a quick and tasty version my hubby and I created on the go one afternoon and enjoyed. Yes, it isnt exact, but for a shortcut/at home version, I assure you…its pretty tasty! You can definitely make it your own by adding in the tomatoes, peppers, guacamole, and salsa verde. Feel free to check out my homemade white queso here, its tasty too! https://thecookinchicks.com/best-ever-white-queso-dip/
