CHEF the Film: Mojo Pork Cubanos

Food, fatherhood and fame were a recipe for disaster for Carl Casper, our hotshot L.A. chef who’s burnt out and tired of compromise in the kitchen. After waging a war on Twitter with an influential restaurant critic, Carl’s life takes a dramatic turn that forces him to start over rediscover why he became a chef in the first place. The following recipe for Mojo Pork Cubanos helped Carl turn a dilapidated taco truck into a gastronomic sensation on wheels. This delectable Cuban-inspired variation on the classic ham and cheese sandwich got its start in Florida, where Carl renews his culinary career and life journey. Check out the recipe and the film to taste/see for yourself! This is an official recipe created for and made in the film "CHEF" by Chef Roy Choi. For more info, visit chefthefilm.com.

CHEF the Film: Mojo-Marinated Pork Shoulder

Martin (our lovable line cook and sidekick) witnessed Carl’s flameout in the kitchen and decided to join his idol’s culinary road trip. While traveling to iconic food destinations across the southern U.S., John helps master the following recipe for Mojo-Marinated Pork Shoulder, which is immersed in a marinade of garlic, citrus and herbs. Give it a try and bask in the authentic Cuban flavor (albeit with a minty twist). This is an official recipe created for and made in the film "CHEF" by Chef Roy Choi. As his ex-wife, Inez helps encourage Carl to start over by coming to Miami and spending some long overdue time with his son. When Carl arrives the stage is set for a culinary reawakening infused with multicultural flavors, such as this savory recipe for Tostones (fried plantain slices). This is an official recipe created for and made in the film "CHEF" by Chef Roy Choi. Young but wise beyond his years, Percy adds a big spoonful of sweetness to the El Jefe menu. The road trip gives him a chance to finally spend quality time with dad as they cook their way across the U.S. Along the way he tries all sorts of spicy foods for the first time, yet still manages to serve up this super-sweet recipe for berries with cream. This is an official recipe created for and made in the film "CHEF" by Chef Roy Choi. CHEF the Film: Yucca Fries with Banana Ketchup

Before she was with Carl, Inez was married to Marvin - a successful Miami entrepreneur who ignites Carl’s creative juices by giving him the broken down old taco truck that will become El Jefe. The following recipe for Yucca Fries calls for ripened bananas that are peeled and chopped - terms that also describe the condition of the truck when Marvin first hands over the keys. This is an official recipe created for and made in the film "CHEF" by Chef Roy Choi. Thank you for your interest in CHEF the Film's cookbook and for helping support the BakeSpace community of independent cookbook authors!

Here’s some quick information regarding how our cookbook platform works, along with a few tips for making the most of cookbooks you add to your library.

What is the Cookbook Café Platform?

Cookbook Café is our one-of-a-kind cookbook publisher, marketplace and reader. It empowers everyone to create, market and distribute a cookbook as both a web-based eBook and an iPad app. It also makes it incredibly easy for home cooks to discover and use amazing grassroots cookbooks they won't find anywhere else. Since 2012, we've published thousands of cookbooks authored by home chefs, nonprofit organizations, clubs, brands, etc. Our goal is to democratize cookbook publishing and make it easy to build an online library of amazing grassroots cookbooks.

How do I "download" a cookbook?

You don't need to "download" cookbooks or deal with any files. All of the cookbooks you select (free and paid) using Cookbook Café become available to you automatically on any device (computer, tablet or smartphone) whenever you’re logged-in to your free BakeSpace account.

When you see a cookbook you like, simply click the green "Get it Now" button. If you're not logged in to BakeSpace, you'll be asked to login (or join) so the cookbook can be added to your cookbook library. Once in your library, you can access the cookbook anytime, anywhere via BakeSpace.com, as well as our Cookbook Café iPad app.

While you're checking out cookbooks, also take some time to visit other parts of the delicious BakeSpace.com community where you can swap recipes and connect with others who share your passion for food and the culinary lifestyle.

Get ready to enjoy a uniquely smart and social cookbook experience!

Once a cookbook is added to your BakeSpace library, our proprietary recipe indexing technology makes it easy for you to find any specific recipe across all of your cookbooks… so there's no need to remember which cookbook contains that perfect recipe. In addition, you can connect directly with each cookbook author, leave comments/reviews and even ask questions about recipe substitutions, history, etc.
